1922. One morning Hedwig, follows her uncle Manfred to a trapdoor in the woods where she discovers that he has not been the same since he returned from the war.

Growing up in Moena means playing in the woods and often coming across trenches and old forts. Crumbling, overrun by nature, mysterious and fascinating. Those places that smell of earth and mold and have seen war have always fascinated me.
And then there was a man. He never left the house, I never saw him, but he was famous for one thing: he ate moles. He had started in the war out of necessity and once he came back he had never stopped.
When we had to write the script for the actor-directing exercise at the university, I thought he would be a perfect protagonist.
